2016 – Jubilee Year of Mercy

Pope Francis has declared it a Jubilee Year of Mercy—a great historic event in the Catholic Church linked to universal pardons and reconciliation. The Jubilee begins on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2015, with the rare opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica.

2017 – 500 Years of Reformation
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, setting off the Protestant Reformation. Today, Protestants from around the globe visit Germany to celebrate Reformation Day on October 31st by participating in the many events around the country—especially in Martin Luther’s hometown and final resting place of Lutherstadt Wittenberg.

2020 – Oberammergau Passion Play
The quaint Bavarian village of Oberammergau is world famous for the spectacular Passion Play performed by its residents just once every decade. Keeping a pledge made nearly 400 years ago, this reenactment of the crucifixion of Christ preserves the health and well-being of Oberammergau residents to this day. In 2020, Globus will once again lead the way in bringing the legendary Passion Play experience to travelers.
