Cross the border into Germany by way of the Durnberg-Hallein salt-mining area into the Berchtesgaden district in Bavaria to drive up to the scenic "Hohenring Road" (reaching a height of 4,500 ft.), stop to take in the magnificent alpine panorama including a view of the famous "Eagle's Nest". Drive down to Obersalzberg, the compound area of Hitler's second headquarters, to see a model of the area as it was before it was bombed in 1945 and return to Salzburg. **Please Note: In case of adverse weather conditions, a visit to the part of the underground shelter system of the Nazis (security service and state police bunker) will be substituted for the drive up to the Hohenringstrasse.

Return to Salzburg by way of the Durnberg-Hallein salt-mining area, where Celtic tribes had settlements 2,500 years ago.
