La Azotea Coffee Plantation & Casa Kojom Museum La Azotea is a small coffee plantation located on the outskirts of Antigua. A nature trail leads visitors from the Museum complex to the farms nurseries. From there you can walk through the shade-covered plantation observing coffee plants in their different stages of growth. The different process of planting and handling coffee are labeled in each section for a better understanding of the complex management required for growing the high quality coffee for which Antigua is famous. After the plantation tour, head over to Casa Kojom on Recollection Street. It is a Guatemalan traditional indigenous music research center, which features exhibits of native musical instruments. In the bazaar you can buy books, recordings, musical instruments and a large number of hand-crafted treasures. Lunch is included on this excursion.

Surrounding Villages Tour Take a tour of the villages just outside of Antigua, heading to San Juan El Obispo first, at the foot of the Agua Volcano. The church and covent here were constructed in the XVI century by Bishop Francisco Marroquin, who live there for many years and was named after him. The church is simple but has valuable and beautiful altar pieces, paintings and images of great quality and antiquity. Continue to Santa Maria de Jesus, founded at the end of the XVI Century by its first inhabitants from Quetzaltenango, who supplied the residents of Antigua with firewood and ice. The ice was obtained from the summit of the volcano. Lastly, visit San Antonio Aguas Calientes, which is an indigenous community where a large variety of high-quality textiles and techniques that produce colorful designs are produced.

Hiking & Zip Line at Atitlan Nature Reserve Embark on a walking tour at Atitlan Nature Reserve, only five minutes away from Panajachel, and occupying half the valley of San Buenaventura on the shores of Lake Atitlan. It has more than 100 hectares (247 acres) of native forest. Its goal is the conservation of the natural surroundings in the Lake Atitlan Basin. Take in the breathtaking scenery on your hike before heading to an exciting canopy tour, the most thrilling way to experience nature here. The height of the cables and the distance between stations is only surpassed by the beauty of the spectacular views of the lake. Each zipline offers a totally different experience: some generate adrenaline at 60 meters (196 ft.) above ground while you enjoy the landscapes moving past you. Others offer striking beauty in the vistas of the volcanoes and the lake.

Ecoglide Arenal Park Located in La Fortuna, Arenal Ecoglide Park is one of Costa Rica's newest adventure parks featuring a canopy tour built to highest safety standards. Fly like a bird through the treetops from platforms stationed in the primary forest. Horseback Ride to La Fortuna Waterfall This tour begins with a horseback ride through the beautiful countryside of San Carlos Valley, passing pastures, cattle farms, and rainforests. The entire route offers stunning views of the Arenal Volcano and a chance to see birds such as oropendolas and toucans. Next, take a short walk into a forested canyon to reach La Fortuna Waterfall, which is 70 meters high. At the base of the waterfall there is a natural pool where we can swim in the fresh water of La Fortuna River (weather permitting). PeƱas Blancas Safari Paddle Trip Enjoy the sights and the sounds of the rainforest and experience its peacefulness while paddling the Penas Blancas River. Monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and numerous tropical birds are waiting for you. A professional guide will share with you educational and interesting explanations of the local flora and fauna found during your float trip. You will truly appreciate the wonders of the Penas Blancas River and the surrounding rainforest while traveling down the river without a motor. Night Tour Valle Escondida If you are a true nature lover, it should come as no surprise that what you see during the day in the rainforest isn't the same as at night. This tour gives you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that only appear after nightfall. Startings around 5 pm, the gorgeous sunset before venturing into the rainforest. As you start walking, your guide will explain the different sounds you hear, and will tell you which animal they belong to. From this moment on, it's important to keep your eyes open for what might appear from darkness. In the rainforest you can find a wide variety of nocturnal animals: spiders (most commonly, tarantulas), tree frogs, sleepy sloths, armadillos, or snakes, to mention a few. Listen to your guide's explanation of these animals, keeping very still so you don't scare them off. Your nocturnal hike will take about two hours, after which you will be left with a completely different perspective of Costa Rican wildlife.

Canopy Zip Line Tour This tour is a total adrenaline rush! The zipline system consists of a network of suspended cables that go from one platform to another and that will let you zip from tree to tree over the forest. The platforms were carefully built on ancient, tall trees in the midst of the tropical dry forest, and allow you to fly between the trees and see the wildlife up in the treetops. This is a perfectly safe activity, performed while wearing safety harnesses and other safety equipment that will be provided on-site.

Mega Combo Adventure Tour (Full Day) At this breathtaking spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean in areas, you will be able to slide from tree to tree on a ten-cable Canopy Tour, with 12 stations and a hanging bridge, providing great opportunities to be in contact with nature. Spot some of the Costa Rican wildlife, such as howler monkeys, keel-billed toucans or coatis. After flying through the canopy, you'll walk into the forest to get to the top of the 400-meter (1,300 ft) waterslide, where a refreshing pool awaits you at the bottom. You can even enjoy a number of restaurants in the area! Afterward, horses will be waiting for you to take you to the Spa in the middle of the forest; a 45-minute ride will reveal more of the property's flora and fauna in diverse topographies. At the Spa you will find a steam room, perfect to open your pores and let the volcanic mud do its job of rejuvenating your skin and making you feel revitalized. After you've let the mud get a bit dry, you will be able to take a shower to wash it off and enjoy the rest of the afternoon in the mineral hot spring pools, all at various temperatures, distributed around this peaceful spa..

Palo Verde National Park By traveling through this river on a motor boat, you'll find around 12 different types of habitats, including four different species of mangrove trees, 55 aquatic plants and 150 species of trees, like the one from which the Park's name is taken: Palo Verde, a shrub with leafy branches and a pale green trunk. The area boasts the largest numbers of aquatic birds in the Mesoamerican region from September to May, like the Jabirus and the Scarlet macaw, both of which are endangered species. After lunch, explore Liberia, known as the White City, a name that comes from whitewashed colonial houses built of bahareque (similar to adobe houses).Calle Real (Royal Street) will take you back in colonial times, as you enjoy the opportunity to appreciate the daily life of the people from this picturesque place, its history, its handcrafts and the nearby stores.

Rincon de la Vieja National Park Rincon de la Vieja is one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica. Towering with nine extraordinary eruption points, at over 6,200 feet high, it is part of the Guanacaste Mountain Range. This rigorous but spectacular hike around the area of Las Pailas will reveal hundreds of species of animals, insects and butterflies, extraordinary vegetation and numerous waterways like the Colorado River and the Rio Blanco. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded to live within the park, like emerald tucanets, and long-tailed manakins. Three different species of monkeys and other extraordinary animals also know this place as their home. And you'll have the chance to glimpse the wild purple orchids protected by this area.
