Called the “Land of Nanook,” meaning polar bear, this sub-arctic region is famed for its vast tundras, pure air, and the estimated 1,200 polar bears that gather here every October and November to wait for the ice to thicken. Upon arrival, enjoy a tour of the town and local area. Visit CAPE MERRY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, established in 1746, and the world-renowned Polar Bear Compound. This afternoon, visit the ESKIMO MUSEUM and see a collection of Inuit carvings and artifacts that is among the finest and oldest in the world. Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant.
