Discover the heart of Canada’s Atlantic seacoast on this wonderful vacation. This Eastern Canada tour begins and ends in Halifax with overnights also in Moncton, Charlottetown, and Baddeck. Along the way, you’ll experience scenic drives, visit beautiful national parks and quaint fishing villages, and enjoy special adventures arranged by Globus.

Tour highlights include a visit to Peggy’s Cove, a charming fishing village with the picturesque lighthouse (one of the world’s most photographed places), and Lunenburg, a small port town and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the highest and wildest tides at Hopewell Rocks, where time and tides (up to 50 feet) have created distinctive sandstone formations topped with trees. On Cape Breton Island, keep your camera ready as you embark on the Cabot Trail, one of the most scenic drives in the world, and visit Cape Breton Highlands National Park, resembling the Scottish coastal regions. More scenic beauty awaits you in Prince Edward Island National Park, famous for its wind-sculpted dunes and sandy beaches. Also enjoy a ferry ride across the Northumberland Strait.

For example, visit Glenora Distillery for lunch and a tasting at North America’s first distillery of single malt whiskey. You’ll be treated to a traditional Ceilidh—a folk music and storytelling party—on Prince Edward Island and a traditional Nova Scotia breakfast at Peggy’s Cove.

Special Event – Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo
This week-long annual event in Halifax features a fast-paced show and a true taste of Nova Scotia. Experience bagpipes, highland dancers, la culture de l’acadie, and military traditions. The tattoo also is a showcase for innovative acrobatic acts, modern music, contemporary dancing, trampoline routines, and more. Tickets to the tattoo and a behind-the-scenes tour are included during one night of your stay in Halifax. Available on the June 30, 2016 departure.

DAY 2Halifax. Excursion to Peggy’s Cove & Lunenburg

This morning, visit PEGGY’S COVE, one of Canada’s most charming fishing villages. Enjoy a Globus Local FavoriteGlobus Local Favorite traditional NOVA SCOTIA BREAKFAST, where you can choose local specialties like fish cakes. Make sure to have your camera ready for spectacular shots of this famous lighthouse and picturesque setting. We then venture to Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During your free time here, explore the quaint Main Street, shop for souvenirs, or spend time at the Fisheries Museum to learn more about this major fishing port. Returning to Halifax, visit the CITADEL with its early 19th-century, star-shaped fort. The rest of the day is at leisure. Maybe visit the Maritimes Museum, which explains the area’s seafaring past, or perhaps tour Alexander Keith’s Brewery, which has been making the home-grown favorite since the early 1880s. DAY 3Halifax–Moncton

This morning, enjoy an orientation of Halifax, including the public gardens and harbor area. Before arriving in New Brunswick, we’ll stop at SUGAR MOON FARM to enjoy a Globus Local FavoriteGlobus Local Favorite Maritime sugar camp lunch, along with a guided tour and traditional sugar camp treat. We spend the evening in Moncton, originally founded by a group of Acadians and then Pennsylvania Dutch immigrants from Philadelphia. Your Tour Director will have suggestions for the best way to spend your evening. (Breakfast, Lunch)

DAY 4Moncton–Hopewell Rocks–Charlottetown

This morning, travel to HOPEWELL ROCKS and learn about the highest and wildest tides in the world, which rise and fall up to 52 feet. Time and tide have carved from the cliffs and coves distinctive sandstone formations topped with trees. Many of the formations have nicknames inspired by their appearance. Learn more about the region’s nature and wildlife with a visit to CAPE JOURIMAIN. Drive across the 8-mile-long Confederation Bridge and cross onto Price Edward Island. Tonight, enjoy a Globus Local FavoriteGlobus Local Favorite LOBSTER SUPPER at a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 5Charlottetown

A guided tour of the island includes a drive to the fishing port of North Rustico Harbour to see the sand dunes and lovely beaches of PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND NATIONAL PARK, along with a visit to GREEN GABLES farmhouse. Later, enjoy lunch at PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND PRESERVE COMPANY, and be treated to a traditional Globus Local FavoriteGlobus Local Favorite CEILIDH—a folk music and storytelling party. You are sure to be entertained and to get your toes tapping! The rest of the day is at leisure to explore on your own, do some shopping, or relax in one of Charlottetown’s fine restaurants. DAY 6Charlottetown–Ceilidh Trail–Baddeck

This morning, board a FERRY that whisks you across the Northumberland Strait to Pictou, known as the “Birthplace of New Scotland.” It was here that the first boatload of Scottish Highlanders landed in Nova Scotia in 1773. Then, travel along Ceilidh Trail, where Scottish traditions and Gaelic folklore come alive. Visit Globus Local FavoriteGlobus Local Favorite GLENORA DISTILLERY, where you’ll be treated to lunch and a tasting at North America’s first distillery of single malt whisky. Arrive in Baddeck for a 2-night stay. (Breakfast, Lunch)

DAY 7Baddeck. Excursion to Cape Breton Highlands National Park

This morning, visit the ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL MUSEUM, where exhibits trace the achievements of the great inventor who spent his last years on Cape Breton. Then, travel along the CABOT TRAIL, considered one of the most scenic drives in the world. Proceed along the coast, savoring magnificent vistas of the rocky shoreline and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Enter CAPE BRETON HIGHLANDS NATIONAL PARK, a landscape that strikingly resembles Scottish coastal regions. Tonight, perhaps join in a local Ceilidh in Baddeck. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 8Baddeck–Jeddore Oyster Pond–Halifax

Cross over the Canso Causeway and travel along the scenic Marine drive south along the Atlantic shoreline. Stop at the FISHERMAN’S LIFE MUSEUM in Jeddore Oyster Pond. The museum showcases a typical Nova Scotia fisherman’s house from the early 1900s. Tonight, join your Tour Director and new friends at a festive farewell dinner—the perfect finale to your Maritimes vacation. (Breakfast, Dinner)

I love to cook, process the pictures I take on tour, and read. Every day, I wake up and have a wonderful, learning experience awaiting me.
